Hi, it’s Story Chief Jun again, and we’re going to pick up right where we left off the last session. We’d just assigned this story to my alter ego Jun The Guest Writer here.
Now as you can see, every time you re-open this particular story, the Editorial Brief will pop up on the right side of the screen. It acts as your guide. But if at any time in the writing process you feel like you’ve got the gist of what you need to accomplish then by all means you can always close it. You can just recall it whenever you need. Now for the purposes of this session I’ve already given it a title. Script for the Story Chief Demo. Script? What script? Well. For transparency’s sake I’m going to drop a chunk of the actual script I used in our first session right here for us to work with.
As you can see, this first sentence right here is actually a duplicate of our title so we’re just gonna get rid of it. Ah. But any time you select text within the Story Chief Editor, this formatting and properties menu pops up. And it’s a pretty standard menu but my favorite feature is the last one there. Because if you click on the the text bubble, you can leave comments during the editing process. You can leave yourself reminders or love notes, maybe a motivational quote.
But in this case, I’m going to leave a comment for Jun The Guest Writer for Story Chief.
Maybe she can delete this first line for us? Because you just never know what kind of mood she’s gonna be in.
Now getting back to our story here—it’s looking kinda dry because we need some visuals because we are the visuals generation, and Story Chief gets that.
So anywhere you hit enter, you’re going to get these icons popping up. You can add an image or image gallery, a video or rich media. You can even add lead capture forms to get information from your visitors.
Here at Story Chief, we’ve even dropped Typeform quizzes in to make our stories super interactive.
While I’m at it, I’m gonna take the opportunity now to show off our Story Chief team a bit, and even plug our Instagram account, why not? That’s me right there!
If you ever feel like popping in and paying us a visit or hunting me down to tell me to shut up, then you can do that because I’m going to drop in a Google Maps link to show you exactly where you can find me!
In all seriousness though, there’s actually a Dummy Story in your dashboard already. And it explains a few things about formatting and visuals in more detail.
You should check it definitely check it out at some point.
It looks something like this:
I’m showing you this particular image because I want to show off the perfect SEO and Readability score of our Dummy Story, mostly due to my OCD tendencies.
But really because I followed the guidelines provided in our SEO tool at Story Chief. So if you go up to the top of your screen you’ll see there towards the left after the word count and read time.
Not looking too good, huh?
Well, in our next session we’re gonna fix all that and get our story search engine optimized and readable!
